Used techniques from Flare Tool Tutorial to create graphics above.   Created rectangles and applied assorted swatches and Holiday text and various uses of Flare Tool.  Created Flare at varying places and moved off of the object so just the rays or circles were showing on graphic. Cropped out other portions of flare and saved graphic.
